Newswatchguyana.com understands that the woman is the wife of an army officer. The woman was advised by her attorney Nigel Hughes and husband to take a medical examination, but one doctor refused to conduct the medical examination after he was told the nature of the incident and to whom the allegation is made against. She said that she met the commissioner after she had gone to him for assistance in dealing with a matter that involves her husband and another senior officer.
Speaking with reporters at the Brickdam Police station, attorney at law Nigel Hughes said that he wishes not to make a comment on this issue, but he is confident that the police will handle the investigation professionally. ‘The victim is in the process of giving the police a detailed report of what transpired, and I wish not to make a comment on the issue until the investigation is fully conducted less they be compromised...I wish not to impede the investigation’. Hughes said.
The police commissioner, when contacted said that the allegation is a serious one and he will seek legal advice on the issue before making any comment.
